Now Im getting into arranging with it - I always liked Acid for arranging but I love making sketches in fruity - trouble is even if you save acidized they never quite sound the same in acid. I started using it in 98/99 so it must have been around version one or two - I never used automation really (did a couple of years ago) or even the playlist that much as I mainly just did live improvised stuff with it. But it sounds to me like you just had a pattern with an already defined length selected. It's the button just above the tempo display. To turn it into an automation clip, click the Options (in the top left corner of the event editor window) > Edit > Turn into automation clip.Īnother thing to check is that you don't have the loop recording button enabled. Personally, I find automation clips easier to edit than event clips.

You can further edit it, or turn it into an automation clip by right clicking the control you automated > Edit events.

The automation will be recorded as event data in the pattern you chose. Then Press record, select "Notes and automation" and press play. If it's a short, repeating pattern, the automation will also be short and repeating. So when you record, it will only record for the length of that pattern and the event automation will appear in the playlist on that pattern. It sounds like you might have the pattern selector set to an existing pattern.
